Plagiarism is using someone else’s work, while giving the impression as if it’s the own, original work of the one who is committing plagiarism. Music cases mostly are being judged by comparing the chord scheme and the melody line. A well known case is My Sweet Lord of George Harrison that would show significant similarities with the song He's so fine of The Chiffons. Harrison lost in Court, but later he bought the copyright to this song.
From more recent years is the supposed similarity between Creep of Radiohead and The air that I breathe of the Hollies. This song by the way is not written by the Hollies but by Albert Hammond and Mike Hazlewood .
Both in the case of George Harrison and in the case of Radiohead one can wonder what the similarity really is.
Conversely, sometimes it seems to be assumed that there is no case of plagiarism, while the similarities are obvious. Which song do you recognize here and which one here?
